I weighed in on Jan 1, 2005 at 270 very fat pounds. I will post my new weight on Sunday each week. Prayers are requested daily for strength to resist my natural desires and for me to stay focused on what Christ wants for me. Thanks everyone!

Just a reminder - Healthy, *sustainable over time* weight loss is no more than 2 lbs a week and if you lose weight at 1 lb a week you are more likely at the end of a year NOT to regain - so how about posting weigh in results or changes in BMI every two weeks or monthly rather than weekly? I think this is really a fun way for us to get fit together - maybe people could also post their current way of trying to reduce (diet, exercise, tricks for increasing calorie burning or decreasing calorie intake.)

OK...here goes. My BMI is 30.1 Ugh. So depressing. I think it would be good to write each week about what we did for exercise, etc. too. So far this week I've done a water aerobics class and lifted weights (two different days)...and I'm doing Weight Watchers points. I've done it before and it is a slow, steady loss. Keep exercising and eating right, fellow weight losers. :)

Cheers to everyone for doing such a great job! I have been *trying* to exercise daily for 20-30 minutes minimum on one of our many exercise machines in our basement. The big change I have made is no snacks except for carrots and doing a diabetic diet as far as carbohydrates is concerned. Feeling pretty good at 25.8! Thanks for keeping this up to date and spurring me on (don't want Chris to cross my line!). :)

Interestingly, we have at work the old cdc bmi index calculator from xenical and it starts the overweight at 27 bmi. Pretty dirty of the CDC to turn all these "borderline" normals into overweights just by changing their criteria! :)

My scale said that I had stayed the same this morning... then I stepped on it again and heard a "Crack!" Now it consistantly says I gained eight pounds. Sooo, I'm looking for a digital scale, too. What Brand or Model should I get? I need big numbers and digital. I'm going this week with a "no gain, stayed the same" which I think is accurate.

I just went to Walmart and got the cheapest digital scale that had a normal battery in it. Ended up with the Sunbeam for around 15 bucks. Definately a no-frills scale, but it calibrates itself every time you use it, so I think it's much more accurate than the other kind.

Also a very good week. I didn't feel hungary either, but we had company on Thursday for dinner and I had a huge two pie desert. I think the fact of the new scale which weighs me much heavier has gotten me back on track. I increased my steps by almost 50% and cut down on my portion size. Also I took a cue from Christ and when I really, really, want to eat something... I don't forgo it completely, I just take a table spoon of it. Anyway, I'm very blessed this week with a 6 pound loss. Down to BMI=37.2

Small loss, but I had to work hard to get it. I'm walking outdoors now, which has added about 2,000 steps a day to my steps goal. I'm now up to about 13,000 to 15,000 a day, which I'm blessed to say does not result in hurting knees. I may even be able to golf again this summer for the first time in about 7 years!

I updated the chart and added a link to the new USDA website on health and diet. It's a pretty cool website that I recommend...you can enter in all the foods you eat and all the exercise you do, and it will give you a breakdown of how many calories you are consuming, your nutrient intakes, and also make some suggestions on how to eat and exercise for a healthier lifestyle.

This week I stayed exactly the same: to the tenth of a pound. I'm pretty lucky as I expected to gain since I was eating more sweets and exercising less (lots of rain at Rose Lake, etc.) However, I'm on a real plateau. I've been the same for a month now. I am going to do another big push and try to lose more in the next month. I've got about 7 pounds to go to goal, so I need to just get in gear and do it. V's birthday party and state fair and so on don't help, but a couple days shouldn't affect it too much if I'm exercising a lot. Anyway, here's to a new resolve...

Sorry haven't posted for a while. I am at 25.2 as of this morning. I've been hovering for the last 2 months between 24.7-25.2 (which is about the difference of 3 lbs) in spite of walking/running very sporadically(about 2 miles) so clearly it is time to gear up. I would like to hit goal by Christmas...we hope to be in our new house by next week so maybe then we can get into some kind of schedule!

Hi Chris! Congradulations!! I am still quite not happy about my weight. You can see how I am at my blog at KansaiConnect.com My blog is SPROUT NEWS. I would join this but here in Japan its all metric and I don't know how to find my BMI here. I go to the public city gym where my weight, blood pressure and heart rate is recorded each time I come and go. I can tell you that I am now at around 114 kg. Im doing weight training, stair master, and on an diet that replaces my dinner with a salad. I still eat curry rice for breakfast! God bless!!
